Xiaomi Redmi Go at Rs 9,999 in Nepal

Front and Back view of Xiaomi Redmi Go

Redmi Go was announced few days ago in China and it is the budget segment offering. As the name suggests this phone has Android Go. The Android Go is diluted and light version of Android operating system. It is light and works smoothly with lower end hardware. This is where Xiaomi is marking its peg with Redmi Go. This is a phone that comes under a $100 price tag and can be great option for budget range.

Every company is targeting the high end segment then there are few companies like Xiaomi who give best in the budget segment. Previously Xiaomi didn’t have many entry level option. Now there is a new hope from Redmi Go. This phone just came to China and we have a small hope that this might come to Nepali market. On top of that we hope to see this phone under Rs 10,000 price bracket.

Mostly phone manufacturers launch devices at price same as Rs 9,999 so we are speculating this now. Providing phones in every hand and increasing mobile penetration is one big deal and entry level phones are the solution. Flagship market is very small, mid range is average but entry level is biggest and promising market. Many people want good phone for basic work and communication and this is where Redmi Go can take its spot. Before we start lets have a look at the specifications.

Xiaomi Redmi Go Specification and Overview

  • 5″ IPS LCD Panel with 720×1280 screen resolution
  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SOC with 1.4 GHz quad core processor
  • Adreno 308 GPU
  • 1 GB RAM and 8 GB Storage with 128 GB SD card support
  • 3000 mAh Lithium Ion battery
  • 8 MP f/2.0 rear side camera
  • 5 MP f/2.2 front side camera
  • Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition

Other specs of the phone seems fine as we can’t demand high on phone of this range. 8 MP primary and 4 MP secondary camera is also a good combination for phone of this segment. We know that Snapdragon 425 is quite old processor but we have to weigh in everything. Currently Nepali market doesn’t have good offerings in this segment. There are lots of phone with dual core processor and loaded with sluggish heavier software. Xiaomi is now a very reputed brand and also they have now installed the lightest software. We wouldn’t have paid much focus if it was MIUI in this low end phone but Android Go changes the perspective. Thus Redmi Go is pretty special phone right now.

We have tested Android Go in few phones. The UI is very minimalist and comes with almost none to zero bloatware. It is solely designed for minimum specs just as this phone. On top of the software Google Play store offers wide range of Go and Lite apps which can be installed and made use of. This can be great for people who want to do simple tasks, browse internet lightly and do communication.

Every thing rests on pricing from Xiaomi Nepal now. If they launch Xiaomi Redmi Go at below Rs 10,000 range. We believe this will put a milestone in lower end market. We believe that Google’s Android Go OS is the best operating system for all entry level phones. Lets hope Xiaomi Nepal brings this phone to the masses and launched it in the lowest price possible.
