Galaxy J2 is one of the entry level budget phone of Samsung’s J series. The model is evolving in each iteration. The new 2018 edition has lots of improvements but also comes with price hike. Samsung Nepal has now added the new Galaxy J2 2018 to the Nepali market. The Samsung Galaxy J2 2018 price in Nepal is Rs 14,590. Company is now making sure that their budget series also fulfill the minimum specs demand of time.
The Galaxy J2 (2018) has a 5” SAMOLED screen with 540×960 resolution. There is simple 16:9 aspect ratio which is very common and standard. We love the fact that this phone is using company’s best screen. Samsung’s AMOLED screen are praised by many and we encourage them to use it in all of their phones. Display quality makes a lot of difference in experience.
Inside we get a 1.4 GHz Quad core processor embedded in Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SOC. It comes with Adreno 308 GPU, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB Internal storage. The company website states that available memory is only 9.8 GB. The 2018 Galaxy J2 also supports dual SIM and memory card up to 256 GB. It comes with removable back cover and 2600 mAh battery inside.
The battery size improvement is significant compared to predecessor. Camera is also well upgraded in the 2018 edition. J2 2018 features 8 MP f/2.2 back camera that can record full HD 1080P videos. Front camera is a 5 MP f/2.2 module which can take moderate quality selfies. Both sides have LED flash which means people can take good photos in low light as well. Last year’s J2 featured smaller pixel count and recording resolution. This time the improvements are better.
Galaxy J2 (2018) is running with Android 7.1 at launch and may be upgraded in future. There are some new features like “Samsung Mall” which lets users take picture and get results immediately for shopping that product and related ones. It also has Samsung Pay Mini but it is only available in India for now.
We are comparing this phone to the last year’s model and it is making good sense. This year’s Galaxy J2 2018 is much better value. There is significant upgrade in memory, camera and battery size. Nonetheless there is price increase which is a big factor in purchase decision of people. In short our impression is that the new J2 is a good phone that meets all the minimum requirements and places itself in budget range with a good status.
