Colors is the only Nepali mobile company that truly focuses on budget market. They have a huge lineup of entry level phones. Pride series is one of their biggest series with lots of smartphones. Their new phone Colors Pride 5C and Colors Pride 5E are another entry level offerings with 18:9 aspect ratio screens, 4G and Android Go OS. This makes for a very good budget smartphone combo. Colors Pride 5C Price in Nepal is Rs 7,595 and the price of Colors Pride 5E is Rs 8,995.

In our view, things that make up a good phone are the display, build, camera, battery and software. Basically it means hardware and software combination. We can’t expect everything a entry level budget smartphone but with time we can expect and get them. These new Pride phones are offering sweet piece of cakes at the price point. The best feature in our view that we first noticed is Android Go.

Hardware Specifications and Details

Colors Pride 5C and 5E can be confusing to people because of a bit similar name. These phones are priced only slightly differently. Please have a look at the specifications of both smartphones to have a clear idea. The specifications of Colors Pride 5C are as follows:

  • 5″ FWVGA LCD screen with 18:9 aspect ratio
  • 2200 mAh battery
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 8 GB On-board storage
  • 1.3 GHz Four core processor
  • 5 MP front and back camera with flash
  • Android Go Oreo

We have listed the specifications of Colors Pride 5E below:

  • 5″ FWVGA LCD screen with 18:9 aspect ratio
  • 1.3 GHz quad core processor
  • 2300 mAh battery
  • 5 MP Rear and front camera with flash
  • 1 GB RAM
  • 8 GB Storage

Basically if we have a look at both of these phones, there is not much of a difference. The major difference is in camera sensor placement and battery size. If you need a bigger battery then additional price may be justifiable.

Colors Pride 5C, Pride 5E Impressions, Analysis

Colors Pride 5C is the cheaper model and offers basic level of hardware. This includes a quad core chip, 1 GB RAM and 8 GB storage. Quad core processor is the most basic and we highly recommend 2 GB RAM at-least these days. Story is same with Colors Pride 5E as well because it also has same set of specs. The 5E only has a bigger 2300 mAh battery. These are basic level phones under Rs 10,000 bracket so we give them a room. Most manufacturers are now not offering cheaper phones but Color still cares to bring technology to the budget market.

Both Colors Pride 5E and 5C have 4G support, 18:9 aspect ratio tall screen and Android Go Oreo. With Android Go Oreo, users get clean stock Android OS with minimal load on the system. It is a trimmed and slim version of regular Android. The 5 MP camera setup at both sides are very basic but the flash addition makes it a good value. Both of these phone have Dual SIM support and also have 2.5D glass at top.

Colors Nepal is providing the least bare-bone new age smartphone with new type of operating system and trendy screen. This is very good to see because most manufacturers don’t do that. The hardware specs are at minimum level but this what we get at the price point. Still we appreciate the new phones with new trendy features and mostly Android Go. Other manufacturers who produce low powered smartphones should use the same OS to make better phones.
