J5 vs E5: Analysis of Specifications and Features

Looking at the specifications of both of these phones, we see that both are using the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset. This SoC has a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor on it. It has been widely used in many smartphones including Galaxy A5, Galaxy Core Prime, and many other phones. In the comparison, we can see that the Galaxy J5 is much cheaper than Galaxy E5 and brings the same hardware. Both smartphones have the same AMOLED screen, same display size, HD resolution,1.5 GB RAM, and processor.

Moreover, the camera and battery are also better on the Galaxy J5. There is a 2600 mAh removable battery in J5 while the E5 just has a 2400 mAh non-removable battery. For the back camera, there is a 13 MP camera with f/1.9 aperture in J5 which is far better than the 8 MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture in E5. One thing the E5 is good for is that it offers higher internal storage to the users with 16 GB for the base model.

Still, we have to consider that is also a 16 GB model of Galaxy J5 available as well. There is one other big benefit of 128 GB memory card support in the J series as well. If we compare the price, there is no meaning in purchasing the E5 when there is J5 in the market.

J7 vs E7: Analysis of Specifications and Features

These are the bigger size phones in both of the series. They come with bigger batteries, screens, and other benefits. We can see that these phones have different processors, camera sensors, and prices. In terms of overall size, both J7 and E7 are very similar. Also in terms of design, they are quite similar. However, there are some differences like plastic body and removable back covers. The best part of the Galaxy J7 is that it has a removable battery and back cover which the Galaxy E7 doesn’t have.

Galaxy J7 is slightly cheaper and it offers a better and faster processor. Whether it is Exynos 7580 or is Snapdragon 615 processor, J7 provides better value to the user. Snapdragon 410 is just quad-core but the Exynos 7580 and Snapdragon 615 are 8-core processors. This gives higher power to the new J series model. The only thing that is less is memory because E7 has 2 GB RAM and J7 has 1.5 GB RAM. In the case of batteries, they are almost the same because there is just a tiny difference of 50 mAh.

Both phones have SAMOLED screens of the same size and resolution, so the game is square there. However in terms of the back camera Galaxy J7 again beats the E7 with its wider aperture. In J7 there is a 13 MP camera with f/1.9 aperture and in E7 there is a 13 MP camera with f/2.1 aperture. Moreover, there is another camera perk with LED flash on both the front sides of these J series phones.

Analysis and Advice

Samsung has made its own lineups more confusing and made some smartphones not worth buying. On the contrary, we can say that they have made better and cheaper phones that compete with their own expensive models. The new Galaxy J series phones are powerful or on the same level as expensive E series phones. J lineup products are new and they have the same display, the same or even better processor, and definitely better cameras.

This is fantastic for all users and customers. People can get better specs at a lower price which is fantastic. Our Samsung Galaxy E series vs J Series comparison can clearly show that both J5 and J7 are better than E5 and E7 in terms of value. We are saying value because these are cheaper and have the same level of specs.

As the Galaxy J lineup is newer, it is guaranteed that they will get OS updates in the longer run. The phones from the J lineup also have a removable battery which is a plus point compared to the E lineup. Overall, the new models are better and we like the fact that Samsung has improved its lineups drastically since the start of 2015. This shows that they will be focusing on improving their phones to take more market share. Therefore, in conclusion, all we want to recommend to our readers is to purchase Galaxy J5 over E5 and J7 over E7.

This article was originally published on July 22 of 2015 and we have updated this a few times. All of the models mentioned in this article are also discontinued. So, this article is for information purposes because there are already far better products in the market.
