Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime in Nepal

Samsung’s Galaxy J series is a success and they are revising the series each year. Samsung launched Galaxy J7 Prime just a few days ago and now Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime is on the market. Both of these phones are special and offer unique specs in the J Prime series. Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime price in Nepal is Rs 22,990 and it has been launched on the festival time that is Tihar. It is slightly more expensive than the Galaxy J5 2016 but there are a few great benefits too.

The Galaxy J series has always been popular for budget, upper-budget, and mid-range phones. Especially its Galaxy J5 has been a popular upper-budget option for people who want a smartphone with mid-range specifications. Keeping that legacy, Samsung has brought some new changes to the Galaxy J5 Prime by upgrading Galaxy J5 (2016).

Just like the Galaxy J7 Prime, the Galaxy J5 Prime also features a metal uni-body design and a non-removable back. The phone has a dimension of 142.8 x 69.5 x 8.1 mm and 143g weight. It looks like that Samsung is continuing with metal bodies on affordable products as well. It is a great start and hope we see more improvements.

On the left side of the phone, there are volume rockers, then on the right side, there is a power button and speaker. At the bottom side, there is a headphone and a USB port. On the back, there is the main camera, LED flash, and company logo. Samsung Galaxy J5 also has its speaker on the new speaker position which is on the top right side.

Core Internal Hardware

Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime packs Exynos 7570 chipset which has 1.4 GHz quad-core processor along with Mali-T720 GPU and 2 GB RAM. The in-built storage capacity is 16 GB but it can still be expanded up to 256 GB using a micro SD card. The RAM is sufficient for this price range and if you want higher RAM then there is J7 Prime available in the market.

The phone uses a 2400 mAh battery but is non-removable this time. We saw the start of nonremovable phones with the launch of Galaxy A5 and Galaxy E5 series phones. Now the same trend of nonremovable batteries has come to the J series as well.

Now, for software, Galaxy J5 Prime is running on the latest Android Marshmallow OS with an updated TouchWiz UI. It has new features such as S Secure which helps to lock and mask apps. Other software features include Ultra power, data saving mode, and a new Power reserve option.

In the case of other features, Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime has OTG support and also has a fingerprint sensor. It is 4G LTE compatible with the VoLTE function. Samsung India has now officially stated that it will only manufacture 4G phones from now on. So we believe that Samsung Nepal will also only import 4G-ready smartphones.

Screen and Cameras

The Galaxy J5 Primes has a 5” IPS LCD panel with 720×1280 HD resolution. It has a 294 decent ppi density. For better protection, there is Gorilla Glass 3 on top. The top glass has been given a 2.5D curve for a better look and feel. Above the screen, J5 Prime has a 5-megapixel selfie camera with f.2.2 aperture. It is a decent camera that can take good selfies and photos. You can enjoy selfies and video conversations from the front camera.

The back of the phone has a 13-megapixel sensor with an f/1.9 aperture sensor and LED flash. The back camera can shoot 1920×1080 FHD videos and provide detailed and crispy high-resolution images. These days 13 MP cameras with wide f/1.9 aperture are standard and with good software, these sensors do provide really good images.

Conclusion

Samsung is slowly making its phones better with updates like metal bodies and fingerprint sensors and new software features. However, they shouldn’t have removed the best parts like AMOLED display and front-facing flash which was found on original Galaxy J series phones like Galaxy J5.

In the case of Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime, we appreciate the new updated interface and features like S secure, power management modes, etc. Overall J5 Prime is a good premium feeling device with a quad-core processor, sufficient memory storage, battery, and a good camera.

Anyways it is a really good upper-range budget-level phone. In our opinion, if you want a big screen and a little more powerful phone then the Galaxy J7 Prime is a great option. However, if a small screen is enough for you, then you can still buy the Galaxy J5(2016) because it is still a better deal and has an AMOLED display instead of the J5 Prime.
